Why a desktop app?
Traceroute runs from the machine it is installed on. If this were a web app, every trace would show the route from my server — not yours. As a desktop app, you see your own connection's journey across the world.

Think of it like the difference between buying a poster of a painting and owning the original. The blockchain version is a provable, one-of-a-kind copy. It comes with a permanent certificate of ownership showing that:
